Our Philosophy

Each year, GSW takes place in a different country. This conference is marked by its interest in tailoring its content to different local entrepreneurial ecosystems – GSW strongly believes that growth strategy for emerging startups is not a one-size-fits-all. To date, GSW has traveled to nearly every continent, and has encountered several incredible speakers, mentors, and participants along the way.

MIT GSW is organized by a diverse group of MIT graduate students and is strongly supported by the MIT entrepreneurial ecosystem including the MIT Legatum Center for Development & Entrepreneurship, the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, and the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program (MIT REAP). With an organizing team that spans departments, and an advisory board with a wealth of knowledge, our diverse perspectives and academic backgrounds contribute to a multidisciplinary program backed by experience in industry and academia.

GSW by the Numbers

Since 1998, our non-profit, student-run organization has held 21 international workshops across 6 continents, and has attracted participants from over 70 nations. We are proud to continue this annual tradition into the years ahead.
