Piaui, Brazil Cohort 9

The state of Piauí is one of the 27 federative states of Brazil, located in the Northeast Region of the country, encompassing the Mid-North Sub-region of Brazil. Piauí’s GDP is BR $50.38 billion. The growth seen in the state is above that of the  other Northeast states and the national average  . Its Human Development Index (HDI) is 0.646, the 24th position in Brazil. Piauí’s largest industries are agribusiness, alternative energy, and healthcare.

MIT REAP Team Piauí will focus on its healthcare industry. Its goals through the program include connecting innovation and technology, improving data analysis and processing, continuous improvement and incentive to accreditation, and marketing integration. It will work to induce, incubate, and accelerate startups in the areas of healthtech, socialtech, and sustainability to develop solutions focused on the health sector, with a strong technological and social base, stimulating scalable and replicable products and services. The team also seeks to provide the bedrock infrastructure to attract investments to establish new business and accelerate the existing healthcare ecosystem that implement innovation-driven ideas in the region of Piauí.
