Edmonton is known for its strong research institutions and growing tech sector, yet challenges remain in realizing its full potential as an innovation-driven economy. Key barriers include gaps in investment, limited commercialization pathways for local research, and a need for stronger cross-sector connections to support startups. While the region benefits from a growing talent pool and established industries, its entrepreneurial ecosystem requires coordinated efforts to reach scale.

Our vision is to position Edmonton as a leading center for innovation in Canada, building on our strengths including life sciences, energy, and artificial intelligence. Through MIT REAP, we aim to align stakeholders to create a strategic and inclusive value proposition. By strengthening collaboration, aligning incentives, and accelerating commercialization pathways, we aim to drive measurable outcomes in innovation performance, and improve Edmonton’s position as a leading hub for economic growth.
