Team Queensland participated in the MIT REAP program with a focus on building connections across the Australian state of Queensland. With a population of around 5 million people, occupying 1,727,000 square kilometres (2.5 times the size of Texas!), Queensland is a large and diverse state with an array of geographic and climatic areas including tropical, sub-tropical, semi-arid and desert environments. Abundant natural resources, a ‘can do’ attitude and long investments in innovation are strengths which Team Queensland sought to leverage. The team was represented by members from all five stakeholder groups, led by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and supported by the Queensland Government through the Advance Queensland strategy.
