Team Strategy

  • Challenge & Opportunity
  • Strategy & Action
  • Lack of consistency in local government support of R&D and economic development programs
  • Disconnected research organizations from local corporations
  • Lack of a cultural understanding concerning entrepreneurship by all stakeholder groups (government, corporate, university, and risk capital)
  • Developed a regional master plan focused on growing the regions “Innovation Capacity” as it relates to existing local industry
  • Established a plan to engage the diaspora and encourage students to stay in Valencia and start new businesses
  • Engage all missing stakeholders through the Advisory Entrepreneurship Council (AEC) and the Focus Innova Pyme and Valencian Entrepreneurs conferences

Metrics of Success:

  • Success is measured by newly registered startups, employment by new innovation-driven enterprises, an online portal for local entrepreneurs (http://www.emprenemjunts.es/) and revenues from licensed patents
